Award-winning, critically acclaimed, passionate and playful, Al & Amy are an acoustic music duo that draws inspiration from musical traditions across the globe and distills these myriad styles into a rich and unique voice – a timeless recipe for healing, heartfelt music. During an Al & Amy performance, the audience is treated to a variety of acoustic stringed instruments and percussion with a dash of pristine vocals. They capture the hearts of their audiences with colorful stories of wildlife in their own back yard in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina and the people and places along the way that have influenced their music. Al & Amy invite their listeners to celebrate beauty and joy in all aspects of life.
Al & Amy are heard often on NPR, in independent films, and on radio shows across the globe - and we are pleased to announce that their music will be used by Ken Burns of Florentine Films for his new 6-part documentary on the National Parks. In 2001, they received a coveted INDIE Award in the acoustic instrumental category, and in 2005, Al received a Grammy award for his solo fingerstyle guitar contribution to the pop instrumental compilation, Pink Guitar. The rich cultural and natural history of Al & Amy's home in the Blue Ridge Mountains has been a large influence on their recent recordings Winter Tidings, Golden Wing, Acoustic Journey and Land of the Sky.

His recordings, music books, and instructional videos have won him a Grammy Award, international acclaim and appearances on radio and television. His playing is featured on more than sixty recordings by some of the world's best folk and Celtic musicians. In 2005, he was voted one of the top 50 acoustic guitarists of all time by the readers of Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
